Sonia Mullen

Sonia Mullen believes that the human-canine bond is enhanced through patience, dedication, and training.  Sonia works with dog owners in group classes, private consultations and individualized training during boarding.  Her background is not only in obedience training but also in animal behavior.

Bucknell University provided Sonia with a strong foundation in Animal Behavior, Ecology and Animal Learning. Sonia spent four years on a behavioral research project that culminated in a manuscript that was published in the internationally renowned Animal Behaviour Journal.  Over the years she has gained more knowledge from Nicholas Dodman, Suzanne Clothier and Cesar Milan, to name a few. Sonia now lectures to animal rescue leagues, veterinarian offices, humane societies and special interest groups.

Over the last ten years, Sonia's experience has shown her the most efficient and natural approach to dog training and behavior modification.  Sonia believes in not only teaching our animals to listen, but how to think through implementing natural communication techniques into daily routines. This involves using body language, vocal tones, and positive reinforcement. The less equipment you use, the stronger the bond is between you and your canine companion.

Sonia's mission is the enrich and enhance the human-canine bond through building trust, confidence and respect through natural communication techniques. By clearly communicating with your dog, you increase the level of understanding. Once your companion understands what is expected, he or she can earn your praise and affection.

It's more than cut and dry obedience, it's a relationship built on trust and understanding.

Canine Techniques is fully insured and bonded
