Sonia Mullen

I am a behaviorist and trainer with over seven years of experience and a four year degree in Animal Behavior. I work with dogs having various behavior problems including aggression and anxiety. These dogs include family pets, rescued animals, and service companions. After an evaluation of the animal, as well as an interview with the owner, I design an individualized behavior program.

My objective is to provide pet owners with the knowledge they need in order to avoid feelings of frustration. The human-canine bond is enhanced through patience, dedication, and training. It's more than cut and dry obedience, it's a relationship built on trust and understanding.

I believe in not only teaching our animals to listen, but how to think through implementing natural communication techniques into daily routines. This involves using body language, vocal tones, and positive reinforcement.

I attended Bucknell University and majored in Animal Behavior focusing on behavioral research. My behavioral research culminated in a manuscript which I coauthored. It is published in the internationally renowned Animal Behaviour Journal. In addition to obedience training and behavior modification I also professionally lecture. I have given presentations to animal rescue leagues, veterinarian offices, humane societies, and special interest clubs.

Canine Techniques is fully insured and bonded

My Mission :

To enrich and enhance the human-canine bond by building trust, confidence and respect through natural communication techniques.

Philosophy and Approach:
I believe in working with dogs through using natural communication techniques. This involves using body language, vocal tones, and positive reinforcement. The less equipment you use, the stronger the bond between you and your companion becomes.

My purpose is to increase your communication with your best friend. By clearly communicating with your dog, you increase the level of understanding. Once your companion understands what is expected, he or she can earn your praise and affection.

My goal is to take action and help anyone who wants to better understand and communicate with their canine companion.
