All behavior work is done with or

Behaviorist and Trainer.

The correct method for a dog tends to be based on the lifestyle of the owner.

House calls work better with dogs whose owners work from home, are retired, or are stay at home parents. This is mostly due to the dog's primary owner having the time to reinforce each behavior as needed. Progress is slower for families who do not have as much time to practice the routines during the training phase.

Board and train programs are more helpful for people who have busy schedules or are going away. The training is done in a shorter time span and allows the owner to continue routines that are established through the training process. At times it helps new mothers or older dogs that need a break from puppy.

Behavior Work
In your home

- Household routines, activities and management are discussed.

- Some pet owners only need one or two consultations. More serious behavior problems may require multiple sessions are over a period of 6-8 weeks to allow time for practice and review.

Board and Train
At Canine Techniques LLC

Training is done in a shorter time span and allows the owner to continue routines that are established through the training process

All board and train programs are done in my home instead of a large training facility. This way your dog learns to behave in the same type of environment he lives in, a home.

On the day of drop off we discuss what your expectations are and the focus of training. At the end of the program you will receive a behavior book with written material to follow as homework.

All dogs go home with a CD containing pictures and video of their stay.

Basic 7 Day Program $ 425

This program is designed for teaching basic obedience and resolving common behavior problems such as jumping, chewing, stealing etc
Extended 14 Day Program $ 625

The extended program is tailored for advandced obedience and modifying severe behavioral problems including aggression and anxiety.

Obedience and Behavior Modification:

Enjoy every day with your canine companion using natural communication techniques. It's more than obedience; it's a relationship.

Your dog learns not to beg, to stop counter surfing, to stay off of the furniture, and how to greet guests politely at the door.

We address gaining attention through eye-contact to ask, instead of demanding through wining, pawing, barking, and/or pushing.

Learning about body awareness teaches our companions to avoid bumping into us and pushing through us.

Every program is tailored for you and your companion's needs.

Includes:

Basic Obedience and Greetings
- SIT, DOWN, STAY, WAIT, COME, GIVE
- HEEL - To walk politely on a leash without pulling

- OFF - To keep four paws on the ground, no jumping or pawing
- LEAVE IT - To ignore a distraction
- EASY- To be more gentle

- ENOUGH - To end a particular behavior
- To SIT and WAIT while being greeted by someone at the door or on the road
Gaining Attention
- Teaches your dog to use eye-contact to ask for what he or she wants instead of demanding attention, toys, food, or going outside by barking whining and/or pawing.

Escalating Distractions
- Introducing distractions when your companion is ready for a new challenge.
- Distractions include both stationary and moving toys, food on various surfaces, other dogs and people in the environment.

Body Language and Calming Signals
- Learn how to read your dog's body language and how to use your own to communicate approval and disapproval.
- Recognize your companion's stress level and how to respond to his or her calming signals.
Self-Control and Body Awareness
- Work with Impulse Control and Buffer Zones.
- Correct Body Slamming and Displacing.
- Use SIT and WAIT with your companion to properly greet friends and family without jumping.

Constructive Games and Enrichment
